πŸ“˜ employbl weekly recap - October 4, 2024

πŸ“ˆ Metrics

  • Active customers: 41 (change: -1)
  • MRR (last 4 weeks): $950 (same as last week)
  • New customers (last 30 days): 25 (change: +1)

πŸ› οΈ Progress:

  • Shipped improvements to the Job Application Tracker (JAT)
    • Displays landing page for JAT when user is not logged in
    • Typeahead for populating company name
    • Display date ("Created 2 weeks ago") in the UI
    • More intuitive link changes and fix edge case 404 page
  • Built a Bay Area tech companies map
  • I spoke with a candidate who was looking for Healthcare tech startups. We could expand our health care tech tags and include healthcare specific qualifications like EMR, payer agreements. It may be out of our immediate focus though. We currently have tags for Medical Organizations (2,825 companies), Health Care Companies (1,273 companies), Biotechnology Companies (305 companies) and Mental Health Organizations (40 companies)
  • Spoke with a senior engineer on the challenge of reducing our Vercel bill. Discovered what I think is the reason for the high bill and have a path forward on steps we can do it to reduce it, though there may be some tradeoffs in terms of costs elsewhere and performance.

πŸ’‘ Plans:

  • Ship saving job search.
  • Ship daily email notifications for when new matches come in for a member's saved job search.
  • Continue sharing updates on linkedin and on the employbl blog.
  • Send out an employbl newsletter via our beehiiv account (didn't do this last week).

🚧 Challenges:

  • Membership growth. I think having saved job searches and email notifications for new matches will really help.
