65 Tech Companies & Startups in Palo Alto every job seeker should know

Palo Alto, positioned in the heart of Silicon Valley, is one of the most important cities in tech in the United States. It's a small sleepy town but it remains a destination for companies and entrepreneurs looking to innovate and grow in the tech industry. But how did this small city in California become a center of the tech world?

One immediate answer is Stanford University. Founded in 1891 with a founding grant to "qualify its students for personal success, and direct usefulness in life" which was quite different from the Ivy League schools. Stanford has been a hub of innovation and innovative companies for a long time. As the New Yorker article, Get Rich U (2012) mentions Federal Telegraph which made radios was founded by a Stanford grad in 1909 and invested in by the university's president. In the 1930s two Stanford grads, encouraged by Frederick Terman -- their professor and "founder of Silicon Valley", founded Hewlett Packard which is one of the largest companies in Palo Alto today. Frederick Terman went on to found Stanford Research Park in the 1950s that raked in U.S. Department of Defense funding and leased out space to startup tech companies. Lavish defense spending, a university with large real estate

Many successful tech companies, including Google, Hewlett-Packard, and Sun Microsystems, were founded by Stanford alumni. In addition, the university has strong connections to the military, with numerous research projects and partnerships in areas such as defense and national security. These connections have helped to further advance the tech industry and drive Silicon Valley as an innovation hub.

In this post we're going to cover tech companies and startups headquartered in Palo Alto, CA today. We'll start with some of the largest companies and then move on to early stage startups.

Series A Startups in Palo Alto, CA

Maybe you're not into that big company life. I get it. There are also a lot of startups headquartered in Palo Alto. On the companies page you can filter for Seed stage startups, Series B companies, Series C companies, Public companies etc. For the purposes of this article I'm only going to feature companies that had the latest funding round of a Series A and have not gone public through an IPO or SPAC or anything. The reason I make that caveat is that Google and Amazon raised only a Series A before going public, but since they IPO'd (a long time ago) they're not "series A companies". I hope that's clear to anyone reading. Anyway without further ado here are Series A stage startups that are headquartered in Palo Alto, CA..
