The Challenge Ahead

KERV Interactive is currently seeking a visionary and experienced Director of Engineering, Data, to lead our talented data engineering team. This critical role will partner closely with a product manager and department leads to prioritize and modernize our data infrastructure and reporting capabilities, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a passion for driving innovation in data engineering to support our business goals.

 

What You'll Do 

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing data engineering team.
  • Define and drive the data engineering roadmap in collaboration with the senior product manager and other stakeholders.
  • Align data engineering initiatives with business objectives, ensuring timely delivery of impactful projects.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation within the team

Data Infrastructure & Modernization:

  • Oversee the modernization of our AWS Redshift data warehouse, ensuring scalability, performance, and cost optimization.
  • Lead efforts to enhance our data capture services, enabling seamless ingestion and transformation of diverse data sources.
  • Manage third-party data integrations to ensure robust and reliable connectivity across platforms.
  • Implement best practices for data governance, quality, and security.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with product, analytics, and engineering teams to define data needs and deliver scalable solutions.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the organization to identify and address data-related challenges.
  • Act as a key advisor on data strategy and architecture for executives and business leaders.

Technical Innovation:

  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and analytics.
  • Champion the adoption of modern tools and methodologies to continuously improve our data ecosystem.

 

What You'll Bring

  • 10+ years in software engineering, with at least 5 years leading data engineering teams or similar technical leadership roles.
  • Proven experience with AWS Redshift, modern data warehouses, ETL pipelines, and big data processing frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success in building, managing, and mentoring high-performing engineering teams.
  • Strong ability to translate business goals into actionable data strategies.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of delivering scalable solutions.
  • Experience with other AWS services (e.g., S3, Glue, Lambda, etc.).
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools and best practices.
  • Familiarity with machine learning workflows and MLOps.
  • Hands-on experience with third-party integrations and APIs.
  • Web application experience
