Job Location

Job Description
Ro is a direct-to-patient healthcare company with a mission of helping patients achieve their health goals by delivering the easiest, most effective care possible. Ro is the only company to offer nationwide telehealth, labs, and pharmacy services. This is enabled by Ro's vertically integrated platform that helps patients achieve their goals through a convenient, end-to-end healthcare experience spanning from diagnosis, to delivery of medication, to ongoing care. Since 2017, Ro has helped millions of patients in nearly every single county in the United States, including 98% of primary care deserts.

The healthcare system today is not designed to help patients achieve their goals. It’s designed around institutions such as hospitals and insurance companies. A patient centric healthcare system is one that is designed around the goals a patient wants to achieve. We’re building healthcare that puts patients in control, provides reactive and proactive care, has transparent pricing and process, is extremely effective and ridiculously convenient, and evolves over time based on patients’ goals.

Ro has been recognized as a Fortune Best Workplace in New York and Health Care for four consecutive years (2021-2024). In 2023, Ro was also named Best Workplace for Parents for the third year in a row. In 2022, Ro was listed as a CNBC Disruptor 50.

The Role:

You will lead the Patient Identity and Privacy engineering team at Ro, dedicated to building secure, scalable systems that protect patient data and enable Ro’s growth. You’ll architect services that process millions of requests per day and design privacy-first solutions that will become leading examples within healthtech. You will take a hands-on approach by leading technical design and contributing directly to the codebase. With identity, security, and data management at the forefront of modern healthcare, you’ll work in a dynamic environment shaped by evolving regulations, technical challenges, and patient needs. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive technical investments that deliver significant impact for both privacy and growth marketing. You’ll partner closely with product, security, legal, and marketing teams to define the vision and roadmap for identity, consent, and the governance of first-party data.
What You’ll Do:
  • Lead a high-performing engineering team in building scalable services that are critical to patient trust and Ro’s ability to continue to scale
  • Lead the technical architecture and contribute to the codebase while providing technical mentorship and defining technical standards
  • Innovate at the intersection of identity, security, and privacy to evolve Ro’s user registration, authentication, identity management, and consent management patterns
  • Lead the technical vision for how first-party data is collected, managed, and leveraged to support personalized healthcare experiences with a focus on security and privacy
  • Lead the evolution of Ro’s digital advertising and CRM technologies to support Growth teams while protecting patient privacy
  • Develop team members and support their career growth with regular feedback and coaching
  • Partner with product, data, design, security, and legal to define the vision, strategy, and roadmap
  • What You’ll Bring to the Team:
  • 2+ years of engineering management experience
  • 7+ years of experience architecting scalable web applications and distributed systems
  • Experience defining and leading the technical vision for a product area or domain, from initial discovery through to successful completion
  • Proficiency with Python
  • Track record of building strong partnerships across the organization and leading initiatives that cross team boundaries
  • Comfort with ambiguity and fast-paced environments, along with a drive to actively seek clarity for yourself and the team
  • Bonus:
  • Experience leading engineering teams through the scale-up phase
  • Experience building scalable Identity and Access Management solutions
  • Experience building user consent and preference management systems
  • Experience working with first-party data and/or customer data platforms
  • Experience working in regulated industries such as healthcare or finance, with a focus on security and privacy compliance
  • Everything You Need, One Platform.
