What you’ll do

As a global team, the Data team spans across Australia, China, USA, and Singapore, revolutionizing applied data science, data engineering and platform solutions to support Airwallex's rapid growth. You will collaborate with a diverse range of cross-functional partners, including Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and more, to tackle complex data problems and shape the future of fintech. 

This role is based in Singapore, Shanghai.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and grow a globally distributed risk data team to measure and forecast Airwallex’s financial position and associated risks (e.g. fraud, credit, FX, financial crimes etc.) .

• Manage company’s overall risk portfolio effectively and deliver insights to shape Airwallex’s overall risk strategy.

• Optimize our merchant-portfolio risk by leveraging a robust risk-adjusted margin model to inform onboarding decisions.

• Objectively evaluate if our models and data are in compliance and aligned with the company’s risk strategy.

• Perform as a strategic thought leader for Data Science, Risk Strategy, Risk Product, Operations, and cross-functional teams.

• Partner with key stakeholders to develop risk roadmap and to prioritize projects in alignment with organizational strategy.

Who you are

We're looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

Minimum qualifications:

• 8+ years of industry experience and an advanced degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Statistics, Engineering, Sciences, Computer Science, Economics).

• 2+ years of management experience in data science or other relevant quantitative functions.

• 5+ years of experience communicating the results of analyses to leadership teams and cross-functional teams to influence the strategy.

• Passion for management and creating opportunities for career growth for team members.

• Demonstrated ability to create, drive and execute impactful data roadmaps for the business.

• Technical mentorship experience with machine learning and experimentation in an industry setting.

• Expert in data querying languages (e.g. SQL) and analytical tools (e.g. Python, R); experience in schema design and dimensional data modeling a plus.

• Experience in technology, financial services and/or a high growth environment is advantageous.
