Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Spectroscopy Scientist to join our dynamic research team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in spectroscopy techniques and their applications in various scientific fields, along with engineering abilities to design and build experimental setups and instrumentation.

This role involves leading research projects, developing/engineering new methodologies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to advance our understanding and utilization of spectroscopy.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage spectroscopy research projects from conception to completion.
  • Develop and optimize spectroscopy techniques for various applications, including food safety, hyperspectral imaging, and x-ray technology.
  • Design, build, and maintain experimental setups and instrumentation for spectroscopy research.
  • Analyze and interpret complex data sets to draw meaningful conclusions and drive research forward.
  • Collaborate with other scientists, engineers, and stakeholders to integrate spectroscopy methods into broader research initiatives.
  • Prepare and present research findings in scientific publications, conferences, and internal meetings.
  • Mentor and guide junior scientists and technicians in spectroscopy techniques and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in spectroscopy and related fields to ensure the team remains at the forefront of scientific research.
  • Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering or a related field with a focus on spectroscopy.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in spectroscopy research, with a proven track record of successful projects and publications.
  • Strong knowledge of various spectroscopy techniques, including but not limited to UV-Vis, IR, SWiR/FLIR, and Raman spectroscopy.
  • Experience in designing and building experimental setups and instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software and tools commonly used in spectroscopy research.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Work with CTO to set clear goals and benchmarks for success.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align with corporate objectives.
  • Oversee the supply chain management for product components, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods, whether standing or sitting.
  • Manual dexterity necessary to handle intricate equipment.
  • Good visual acuity and the ability to discern colors, essential for hardware development and inspection.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as needed in R&D and manufacturing environments.
