We do this by making digital advertising markets and technologies that are designed to deliver optimal value to publishers and advertisers on every ad served across all screens.At OpenX, we have built a team that is uniquely experienced in designing and operating high-scale ad marketplaces, and we are constantly on the lookout for thoughtful, creative executors who are as fascinated as we are about finding new ways to apply a blend of market design, technical innovation, operational excellence, and empathetic partner service to the frontiers of digital advertising.OpenX, the world’s largest people-based advertising exchange, is seeking a Sr Director to join our Buyer Development team and oversee sales, distribution and usage of our Curation Platform for Agencies.Reporting directly to the SVP Strategic Partnerships, the Sr Director will focus on driving client acquisition, usage, and revenue from OpenX’s Curation Platform with major holding companies, independent agencies, and direct brands. This role will act as the internal expert on OpenX’s self service curation platform for agencies, leading pitches, developing and executing demos, establishing relationships with key decision makers, closing partnerships and driving platform related revenue.Success in this position requires a deep understanding of the programmatic ecosystem, agency planning and trading.The role requires strong consultative sales and analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, team-focused environment delivering against tight deadlines.Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Command expert-level understanding of OpenX’s products and how they solve problems for programmatic buyers
- Further entrench OpenX as a trusted partner and advisor in the programmatic space, with an eye toward building long-term relationships with buyers, key decision-makers and centers of excellence at Agency Holding Companies, Indies and Brand Direct.
- Monitor platform usage and gather insights to improve user experience and client satisfaction.
- Collect client feedback and work with product and development teams to refine the platform’s features and functionality.
- Conduct engaging and informative demos of the platform’s user interface, showcasing its features and benefits to potential and existing clients.
- Act as the primary point of contact for client accounts, ensuring their needs are met and fostering strong, long-term relationships.
- Guide new clients through the onboarding process, offering training sessions to ensure they maximize the platform's utility.
- Stay informed about industry trends and competitor platforms to position the product effectively in the market.
Requirements- 10+ years working in online advertising sales or business development for a major SSP, DSP, Data Platform, or Agency
- 3+ years of experience selling SAAS or platform based solutions
- Strong relationships with Agency trading groups, centers of excellence, and investment leads.
- Extensive knowledge of the advertising technology landscape and ecosystem including digital marketing ad formats, targeting strategies, and measurement systems across the digital ecosystem Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Expansive network of strategic and transactional decision-makers on the buy-side, including brand-direct relationships
- Strong executive presence and comfortable presenting to clients of all levels
- A consultative, partnership-minded sales approach
- Ability to lead all aspects of top-tier buyer relationships and truly ‘own’ a book of business
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong business judgment
- Highly organized, with experience successfully managing multiple projects to tight deadlines
- A clear understanding of SSPs/exchanges and programmatic buying fundamentals
- Ability to travel up to 30%
- BS/BA degree required, MBA a plus
Desired Qualifications and Skills- Deep familiarity with ad tech, SSPs, DSPs, and the programmatic landscape, as well as with internal org structure at brands, agencies, ATDs, and consultancies
- Well-versed in programmatic audience strategy: CRM, CDP, DMP, 1P+2P+3P data, the future-focused people-based marketing landscape, etc
- Programmatic buying experience at an agency, ATD or brand
