- Job Description
At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. To do this, we start with our own community by creating an open, inclusive, and diverse organization.
The Help Access Experience team is seeking an engineering manager to help us scale and further improve customers' experience when they interact with Lyft support. We are a full stack team that builds and owns in-app help access products that deliver excellent customer care experiences to foster long-term loyalty. Our engineers are smart, passionate, and impact driven. They look to their managers for organizational transparency, career development, mentorship, and honest feedback. They move fast with high quality, relying on their leadership to increase productivity by removing obstacles and keeping processes lean. We look for engineering managers who are passionate about improving people’s lives and have solid technical backgrounds and interests -- some are involved in the technical details of their team and others provide general technical direction and oversight. As a manager, you will keep the team efficient and executing on the right goals. We build teams that are inclusive, helpful, and have a strong sense of ownership for the things they build.
Responsibilities:
- Set the technical vision and strategy for the Help Access Experience.
- Lead a team of talented engineers who like to ship code and tackle hard engineering problems. Maintain a balance between building sustainable, high-impact projects and shipping things quickly.
- Coach and guide the professional and technical development of your team members. Help develop their careers, and assign them to projects tailored to their skill levels, personalities, work styles, and professional goals.
- Instill a spirit of continuous improvement in the team’s code, architecture, and processes
- Work closely with the Lyft recruiting team to hire high potential candidates from diverse backgrounds
- Collaborate closely with your engineers, leadership and cross-functional partners (e.g. product, science, design, marketing, legal, operations, policy and others) to maintain a prioritized backlog and create short term and long term goals
- Own your team’s deliverables and ensure we continue to ship scalable, highly-available products that delight our passengers and drivers
Experience:
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science, a related technical field, or relevant work experience.
- 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams, ideally with experience in both platform engineering and product engineering.
- Passion for building scalable and extensible solutions that enable others and ensure a high-quality product.
- Experience launching and supporting consumer-facing products.
- Ability to thrive in a heavily cross-functional environment and drive projects to completion regardless of the organizational structure.
Benefits:
- Professional and stable working environment.
- The latest technology and equipment you need.
- 28 calendar days for vacation and up to 5 paid days off.
- 18 weeks of paid parental leave. Biological, adoptive and foster parents are all eligible.
- Mental health benefits.
- Family building benefits.
