The Problems You'll Solve

In 2018 we entered Fund Administration because we saw that the process of managing private market investments was broken. In the public markets, you could login to your brokerage account at any time to see an overview of your investments, their cost, and their value. In the private markets, you hired an accountant and waited a quarter or more to get a spreadsheet.

In the last five years, we’ve been building the platform to unlock the future of fund administration. We launched our own proprietary general ledger and “Event-Based Accounting” framework. We’ve embedded deeply with our customers to understand thousands of complex workflows. And we’ve automated the nuances of the business like LP allocations, waterfalls, capital calls, and management fees. As a result Carta Fund Admin has grown from an idea many thought was impossible to a business that manages over $130B in assets for the world’s top venture and private equity investors.

Carta has become the de facto fund administration solution for newly formed venture capital firms but we’re still early in our journey building for upmarket customers. The Upmarket Fund Administration team is taking Carta to the next level by building to support the largest most-complex Venture Capital firms and expanding our offering into other asset classes like Private Equity and credit.

As a Senior Product Manager working on our Upmarket Fund Administration team, you’ll build to enable this growth while ensuring we’re delivering a best-in-class experience for our existing strategic customers. You’ll help solve problems like:

  • How should we balance a bespoke ask from a new large customer with ensuring we’re advancing the product for all customers?
  • How should our fund administration product interact with a customer's existing tech stack?
  • How should we approach building a comprehensive reporting solution that meets the needs of all of our customers?

The Team You'll Work With

Fund Administration is an established business within Carta, but our upmarket motion is new. There are immense challenges to be solved, and enormous opportunities if we can do it. You’ll be joining an organization that cares deeply about building delightful experiences for Fund CFOs and LPs, has a deep understanding of the ecosystem, and understands the responsibilities we have to our customers.

The Upmarket product and engineering team is composed of experienced R&D leaders that have worked across our product and have a deep understanding of the unique problems we’re solving for our customers. R&D partners closely with a dedicated group of experienced Fund Administrators that have spent their entire careers servicing asset allocators across Venture, PE, and Hedge.

About You

Here are some of the attributes we’re looking for in our new partner:

  • An experienced product owner with 4+ years of product management experience at a quickly scaling business.
  • A learner, independently curious about the private capital markets and able to rapidly get up to speed on complex topics.
  • A systems thinker who can break down complex processes and systems into simple models. Fund Admin is both wide and deep and this role will be expected to work across the entirety of our product.
  • Someone with prior experience partnering with delivery leaders to ensure we’re delivering both a best-in-class product and service to our customers.
  • Perseverant, with the grit to withstand the ups and downs of a scaling business. You believe you can solve even the hardest problems

Salary

Carta’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans. Our minimum cash compensation (salary + commission if applicable) range for this role is:

  •  $170,000 - $200,000 in [San Francisco, CA; New York, NY]
  •  $160,000 - $190,000 in [Seattle, WA]

Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on geography, candidate experience and expertise, and other factors.

We are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to providing a positive interview experience for every candidate. If accommodations due to a disability or medical condition are needed, please connect with the talent partner via email.
