Job Description: About the Role

Houzz is looking for a world-class Data Scientist to join our Pro Software DS team. Our mission is to assist Houzz software initiatives with data driven insights. Our team is working on discovering information hidden in vast amounts of data to make intelligent business decisions and to deliver better products. Critical projects will focus on data-driven insights to guide product development and business direction.
What You’ll Do
Collaborate with leadership, product, design, and engineering teams to identify, define and launch strategic and operational data science initiatives to improve Pro software performance
Ensure product areas are performing in line with our high expectations and be able to identify, diagnose and recommend projects to improve customer experience for software products
Define key metrics (KPIs) to guide business decision-making across various aspects of our site
Have a deep understanding of business results and drivers - and associated approaches along with a strong drive to influence business decisions and metrics
Design product experiments, interpret the results to draw detailed and impactful conclusions, and conduct root cause analysis
Own the end-to-end execution of projects by working with a broad cross-functional team
Work with data infrastructure / product engineering teams to define the data collection needs
Provide recommendations to assist quick product ideation and feature launch decisions
At a Minimum, We’d Like You to Have
Masters Degree with 5+ years of experience working within a DS role in a high-growth tech company
Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries such as using aggregate functions and all types of joins using Hive or Presto. Strong programming skills in Python or R
Experience with machine learning and statistical modeling with a passion for model evaluation and applications
Proficiency in advanced experimental designing, testing, and analysis
Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Self-motivated, independent, and eager to learn
Ideally, You'll Also Have
Experience working with remote teams with a time zone difference
Experience with SaaS solution, user engagement and funnel conversion
Experience mentoring junior data scientists
Ability to learn and act quickly, making decisions and drawing conclusions in the face of ambiguity
