Job Description

Build the future of data. Join the Snowflake team.

There is only one Data Cloud. Snowflake’s founders started from scratch and designed a data platform built for the cloud that is effective, affordable, and accessible to all data users. But it didn’t stop there. They engineered Snowflake to power the Data Cloud, where thousands of organizations unlock the value of their data with near-unlimited scale, concurrency, and performance. This is our vision: a world with endless insights to tackle the challenges and opportunities of today and reveal the possibilities of tomorrow.

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to join our core Cloud Data Warehouse team focusing on SQL workload optimization. This role will have a significant impact on Snowflake’s core product experience and extend our industry lead in “ease-of-optimization”: the ability for our customers to easily get the optimal performance, at the best price, for their workloads. The PM will be responsible for defining the vision and roadmap for Snowflake’s SQL workload optimization features, and executing on it with urgency, excellent PM tradecraft, and care. Snowflake customers have high expectations for the quality of experience we deliver. To fill this role, we’re looking for an experienced, collaborative, “full-stack” product leader who is comfortable diving into SQL optimization details with architects at our biggest customers, leading efforts to invent new SQL workload optimization features with our engineers and founders, working with our UX team to deliver an elegant and seamless user experience, and working across orgs to ensure a consistent Snowflake workload management experience.

AS A SENIOR PRODUCT MANAGER AT SNOWFLAKE YOU WILL:

  • Extend Snowflake’s best-in-class workload optimization experience. Help us innovate on delivering a seamless and elegant workload optimization to our customers.
  • Define and drive critical optimization initiatives end-to-end. Drive initiatives across Snowflake to help customers optimize the data workloads they’re building on the Snowflake platform.
  • Drive enhanced and new product capabilities. Identify, prioritize, and execute on product roadmap items - both in the core query platform and in our developer and management experiences - to make Snowflake the best place in the world to manage and optimize SQL workloads.
  • Lead a cross-functional team of passionate colleagues. You will drive the vision, strategy, and roadmap across internal teams covering product, design, development, documentation, marketing, sales, support, professional services, and partners.
  • Conduct deep research on the customer workload optimization experiences. You will research what customers, internal teams, and partners need to deliver a best-in-class optimization experience.
  • Be a trusted advisor to Snowflake and customer leadership. You’ll help win the necessary attention and resources for your initiatives, and be the go-to expert on intelligent optimization for SQL workloads.
  • Relentlessly focus on the customer and business results. You will establish and track key metrics to measure the success of your efforts, get everyone aligned on them, and ensure continuous improvement.

OUR IDEAL PRODUCT MANAGER WILL HAVE:

  • 7+ years of experience in product management
  • 5+ years of experience with databases, SQL concepts & language, and/or distributed systems
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar
  • A strong understanding of competitive data platform landscape
  • Ability to design complex database product features while focusing on ease-of-use
  • Proven experience defining a product vision and roadmap and designing an incremental execution plan to deliver value to customers quickly
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in 20 seconds or 20 minutes, depending on the audience and goals
  • Comfortable presenting and working at the CxO level, both within Snowflake and with our customers and partners
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and leadership skills, with the ability to partner across engineering, marketing, sales, and other teams to coordinate and execute on product and go-to-market plans
  • A passion for tackling ambiguous problem definitions, and ability to thrive in the dynamic environment that comes with being part of an innovative company during a growth spurt
  • A strong sense of ownership, problem solving skills, and willingness to jump in and do whatever it takes to be successful. Snowflake is moving fast!

BONUS POINTS FOR EXPERIENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING:

  • Prior experience working on SQL workload optimization and cloud data warehouses, whether as a customer, partner, integrator
  • Experience with data services in public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Experience in building data services in public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP)
