Job Description

Toast is driven by building the restaurant platform that helps restaurants adapt, take control, and get back to what they do best: building the businesses they love.

The kitchen is the heart of the restaurant, and the Toast KDS (Kitchen Display System) keeps it running smoothly when the pace of service heats up. Restaurants install KDS tablets at prep stations across the kitchen so everyone has a real-time picture of which dishes to prepare to keep service flowing. Kitchen operations are directly integrated with online ordering services so restaurants can jump on new orders and adapt to changes in demand. KDS data powers adaptive AI predictions that let guests know how long it will take to prepare their meal. Guests and waitstaff are automatically notified via SMS or POS when a meal leaves the kitchen. With the KDS, kitchens run efficiently with clear communication, minimal mistakes, high throughput, and quick delivery of fresh food to guests.

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Kitchen Operations team that develops the Toast KDS.

About this roll* (Responsibilities)

Drive delivery of business outcomes, including planning and execution
Collaborate closely with PM and UX to define actionable, valuable work for the team
Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to help your teams accomplish their goals
Oversee end-to-end delivery of software, including team ownership of monitoring and production issues
Guide the team’s quality and testing strategy
Coach engineers for professional and technical development
Recruit and onboard new team members

Experience writing, delivering, and operating software in a SaaS environment
Experience mentoring and developing successful teams
Experience deeply collaborating with PM and UX partners
Strong technical background that you use to guide your team’s decisions and plans

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.

Pay Range

$150,000—$240,000 USD
